6 tips to finding more balance in 2021.

If you’re after more balance in your life, we focus on 6 areas that will help you get on the road to mastering your health and happiness. Just like our skin, (where we focus on the [pH][ balance, our lives need to be balanced in order for us to live well, be effective and have peace of mind. In the wise words of philosopher AA. Alebraheem: ‘We don’t need to strive towards balance, we rather need to work on the obstacles that are preventing the natural flow of balance’.

Some of these obstacles can be overcome by looking inward with others needing to be put into practice until they become a habit. But the result – a state of equilibrium – will be worth it!

Here are six ways to help you to reach, and maintain, equilibrium.

Here are six ways to promote balance in your life this year, and always.

1. Get to know yourself

This might sound obvious, but this refers to knowing more than just your favourite colour, movie genre or personality type. It’s about identifying what your values and priorities are and allowing your moral compass to guide your actions. We also have more confidence in our words and actions when they come from a place of integrity.

2. Establish  and enforce – boundaries

Boundaries are important, in both our personal and professional lives. Once you truly know yourself and what your core values are you will be able to communicate it to others. Despite this, there will always be people who will try to test your limits, but try to be strong – this is about honouring your needs and keeping you safe.

3. Plan ahead

There are always so many things floating around in our brains – or notes scribbled on paper! – that we can feel disorganised and become overwhelmed. Having a diary, whether online or the pen-and-paper variety, to jot down errands, unload thoughts or schedule social activities can help to keep your life more streamlined.

4. Look after and nurture yourself

Our bodies so *so much* for us and should be treated with the respect they deserve! Establish a self-care routine, which can include any activity you find relaxing, such as indulging in a skincare ritual, gardening, practicing mindfulness or doing yoga. Another way to look after yourself is to eat a healthy diet and to drink plenty of water.

5. Cultivate a positive mindset

Positive thinking is powerful stuff! Next time you find yourself consumed with self-doubt or self-pity, try to put things into perspective. One of life’s biggest challenges is dealing with adversity and uncertainty, but practising resilience, learning to live in the moment and accepting what you can’t change can help you to feel less off-balance when times are tough.

6. Expect the unexpected

We all want to feel as though we are in control of our lives. And, for the most part, it’s possible. But life has a tendency to be unpredictable by throwing the occasional curveball that can cause us to stumble. Feeling emotionally prepared for life’s unexpected twists and turns will help you to feel centred on the good days and the bad.
